Where has the summer gone?

It's hard to believe that school starts in 1 week! This summer has flown by. This weekend Phil and I were able to go on a rafting trip on the main Payette with some of his family. We had a blast! There were 8 of us that went, and we ended up in 2 seperate rafts. The weather was perfect, and the water was cold. Our guides were awesome! Phil's twin sister and I were had a few times by our guide. The first time he was having us do some "stretching" which turned out to be the macarena. Brooke caught onto that one pretty quick. The second time Brooke and I had just switched up to the front of the raft, and we had also switched sides. It felt weird to switch sides paddling and our guide pointed out that Brooke (who was on the right side of the raft) had a left handed paddle. Well me being a brilliant as I am was asking "How can you tell?" Well anyway, he told me I had the right handed paddle and so we switched. LOL! Can we say gullable? Our husbands and the guide couldn't hold themselves together. There are not right or left handed paddles genius! About half way down the river both rafts stopped at some rocks and Phil's dad, brother Beaugh, and I decided to do some jumping. It seemed like a good idea until you get up there! It was super hard to get up to the top of the rock, and you pretty much had to grab a hold of the top and pull yourself up. Once you got to the top, there was only about 1 square foot to stand on, and it wasn't exactly even ground either. Beaugh had jumped off into the current and he finally came up about 20 feet downstream. I just screamed the whole way down. Considering though, it was a lot of fun! I definatley love this new family tradition that has been started! Can't wait for next year! Staircase!!!!

Update. . . finally!

Wow, I can't believe how long it has been and how much has happened in the past year and a half! We have faced some incredible challenges, and recieved some amazing blessings. I guess I should start about where I left off...

June 11, 2009 - I went to my OB for my weekly checkup. I had 2 weeks until my due date and was feeling very anxious and excited. I had finished the nursery and I was very ready for our baby to come. . .and come she did. As the nurse was checking for the heartbeat, she kept on having to move around to try and hear it. She would catch my heartbeat once in a while, but nothing from the baby. She decided to send me to ultrasound. At this point I knew something was not right. As we walked to the ultrasound room all that I could think was how am I going to tell Phil? Once in ultrasound my fears were confirmed. There was no heartbeat. I was devestated. I didn't know what to think or what to do. I was in shock. My nurse asked me what I wanted to do. I asked her to call Phil, and have him come to the hospital. When he walked into the room all I could do was cry. I had to force myself to tell him what had happened. It was the hardest thing that I've had to do. We decided that I should be induced that day and have the baby. The next 12 hours went by very slowly. It was spent comforting each other, and trying to find something positive in the situation we were in. The nurses and staff at St. Lukes were amazing. The chaplins came in a talked with us, and everyone was very kind and sensitive. Phil had called our parents and they came down to the hospital a few hours before I delivered the baby. Phil, my dad, and my father-in-law gave me a blessing before I had the baby. I am so grateful for that blessing and the comfort it gave me.

Adalyn Fieldz Meyer was born on June 12, 2009 at 5:54 am. She weighed 6 lbs 14 oz, and was 21 inches long. She had lots of dark hair, and beautiful blood red lips. She was beautiful and perfect. She just looked like she was asleep. At first I had a very hard time looking at her. I just kept wishing that she would just wake up, just open her eyes. We spent as much time as we could with her. Phil gave her the most beautiful blessing that I have ever heard. That also brought a lot of peace and comfort to me. She is our angel...our perfect angel.

In September I moved to Bountiful Utah so that I could attend SkinScience Institute in Salt Lake City. I was going to school for Master Esthetician degree. The program was 8 months longs, and Phil and I were only able to see each other every few weeks. It was very difficult to be away from him for so long, but it was definately a good experience. I was able to live with my uncle's sister and her family, and I made a lot of great friends. I really enjoyed my program and I graduated with honors. I am now a licensed master esthetician in Utah and Idaho.

This summer has been a crazy one! Phil and I have been working a lot! We have tried to get things done around our house and yard, and also tried to squeeze in some play time here and there. Phil got a new job! Finally!!! He is now working for a company called MarkMonitor. He is a domain provisioner, and he is very, very busy. He has been there for about 4 months now. This job has definately been a huge blessing in our lives. I also got a job at Intermountain Orthopaedics, and have been working there for about a 2 months. Plans for the fall are for me to go back to school at BSU and persue a degree in Nursing. I am wanting to use nursing with esthetics and hopefully work for a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. It has also been a little over a year since we had Adalyn. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful supportive husband, family and friends. They have helped me through so much and I am truly grateful for them. I also feel very blessed that I have been able to accept what has happened and that it has not stopped my life. I love my daughter very much and I can't wait until I can be with her again.
Anyway, super excited for Saturday! Going rafting with Phil's family! Should be some good times!
